Revisiting a Favorite Book
I love nothing more than getting caught up in a good book. I've been feeling a little worn out this past weekend, and so I reveled at the opportunity to re-read one of my favorite books: Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility. There is something so comforting about getting to revisit my favorite characters, and Elinor and Marianne feel like close friends.

Hollywood Glamour
My absolutely favorite part about watching the Oscars is getting to see all of the beautiful dresses on the red carpet; I adore the return to the dramatic Hollywood glamour of the past. My favorite look from the Oscars last night were Mila Kunis in Elie Saab, Halle Berry in Marchesa, and Jennifer Lawrence in Calvin Klein.

SKIES OF BLUE.

Thursday, February 24, 2011

I simply can't get enough of the wonderful sunny (albeit chilly) weather we've had here in Boston the last couple of days. It's so nice to see the sun shining. Here's to hoping Spring is on its way!

STREET VIEW.

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

One of my favorite parts about walking around the city with a camera is that I get to focus in on the beautiful details of the places that I walk past everyday. Here are some shots I took of the Christian Science Center in Boston - such beautiful architecture.

A TREE GROWS IN BOSTON.

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

Yesterday afternoon, I happened to look out my apartment window and saw the most beautiful shadow of a tree. The shadow had such life; the swaying branches were so animated against the static brick wall. The funny thing is, I can't actually see the tree itself from my apartment. For some reason I've never noticed the shadow before, so it was a wonderfully serendipitous moment.

COLOR WONDERFUL.

Thursday, February 17, 2011

Today is a beautiful, unseasonably warm day in Boston. For the first time in about 4 months, I was able to go outside without my usual winter armor: a coat, hat, gloves, scarf, and multiple layers of tights. I know that one day of warm weather by no means indicates the end of winter; spring in Boston pretty much consists of a few sporadically warm days distributed throughout the usual cold, windy, and rainy season. It doesn't stay consistently warm until probably the end of May. So, in celebration of the warm weather, here are a few colorful shots. The muted tones of winter are beautiful, but it's nice to have a little more color in my life.

GETTING THERE.

Thursday, February 10, 2011

Living in Boston, I am constantly taking the T. (For those of you who aren't from here, the T is the subway system.)  If you've ever been in Boston, you may have noticed the ubiquitous "T" signs throughout the city. Fellow Bostonians, you can attest to how frustrating the T can often be. In the past month alone, there have been delays due to a pet snake lost somewhere on a train, a small fire on a track, and mechanical difficulties due to the all the snow. Needless to say, riding the T is always somewhat of an adventure.

Although I take the T so frequently, I often forget to see what's in front of me - choosing instead to keep my head buried in a book. Here's a look at what I've been missing.

WORDS I CAN'T FIND.

Words from a love poem - from a man who expresses the sentiments I feel far more eloquently than I ever could.

FEELING REFLECTIVE.

Tuesday, February 8, 2011

The best part of the long, dreary New England winter is that when the sun does actually come out, there is absolutely nothing better. Yesterday was a beautifully sunny day, and it was so wonderful to be able to walk around the city and not feel like I was going to get frostbite. [It was 45 degrees F - it may be slightly pathetic that I now consider that warm, but I'll take it nonetheless.]

When I was walking around, I saw the most wonderful reflections. It felt as though the city was trying to make the most of the sunshine. The reflections look like watercolor paintings, and were far too lovely to ignore.

Google Art Project
Google's latest offering, Art Project, allows you to virtually explore various museums across the world, letting you view the galleries in the museums and zoom into the artwork itself. Such an innovative way to make more accessible! [Warning: It is very easy to get lost in the art and completely lose track of time. Don't say I didn't warn you!]

Lazy Sunday Afternoons
I always look to my weekends as a time to relax, have fun, and feel refreshed, but I'm sometimes I end up feeling more exhausted come Monday morning than I did before my weekend began. Yesterday, I had the most perfectly lazy Sunday afternoon. I didn't really do too much of anything, but I did manage to talk a wonderful little walk and enjoy the sunshine.

Rain Boots
As I mentioned here and here, Boston has been getting a lot of snow this season. For about the last week, the snow has been intermittently mixed with rain, resulting in a pervasive mucky slush. My rain boots allow me to wade triumphantly through these icy puddles while less well-prepared pedestrians are left hesitating on the sidewalk.  I have never been quite so grateful to own such dependable wellies.
