LIGHT AS AIR.

Doesn't the light just look so beautiful shining through the delicate leaves? I couldn't resist trying to capture the moment. Everything felt so soft, whimsical, and lovely.

I just loved the way this plane trail cut across the sky, framed so nicely between the colorful branches. The bright white strip lent an additional layer of beauty and detail to a lovely fall sky. I've always found there to be something romantic about plane trails; I can't help but stare up at the sky and imagine where all those people might be going.

While I was home for the holidays, I kept seeing the most beautiful sunsets. I don't manage to see too many sunsets living in the city, so I was thrilled to see the vivid pink, yellow, purple, orange, and royal blue hues.

COLOR THEORY // 2

Friday, November 25, 2011

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I certainly did. This week, I've been feeling inspired by the combination of slate and sea foam. After the excess of the holidays, it feels fresh and clean, and a little unexpected.

I just love the patterns and colors in this art installation in Boston's South End. As I've said before, I just love how art can bring life & personality to a neighborhood. I've always loved the South End for its fantastic array of restaurants and boutiques, and street art like this gives me another reason to keep going back.

Good morning! This weekend seemed to just fly by, but I am beyond excited for the upcoming week! I can't wait good food, great family, and lots of time to relax. What do you have planned for Thanksgiving? Do you have any special holiday traditions? Are there any family recipes you can't wait to make? I'd love to hear! I'm particularly excited to start setting up Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving and for my Mom's pumpkin soup.

This week, I've been loving the sculptural quality that bare branches take on. While I'm nowhere near ready for fall to be over, I do love the stark beauty of winter trees. The few leaves that are left seem even more beautiful and delicate in contrast.

COLOR THEORY // 1

Friday, November 18, 2011

It's finally Friday! This is the first post in my Color Theory series, celebrating the joy of color. This week, I'm loving rich reds and mustard yellow [ with a splash of forrest green ]. I love the warm hues of fall, and these are no exception. The deep, terracotta red of these flowers bring to mind the warmth of the upcoming holiday season.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

LIKE A DREAM.

Thursday, November 17, 2011

Sometimes,  I like to take pictures through the window of a moving car. I seem to see the most beautiful scenes when I am unable to stop and take pictures. I think I like the feeling of having only a moment to capture an image. When I set out to take pictures, I can get caught up in trying to find the perfect frame. When I'm moving at 60 mph, I don't have time to worry much about perfection.  The results are slightly blurred and out of focus, and feel to me like something from a dream.

THE DETAILS // 1

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

Good morning! Welcome to the first installment of a new series I am starting, The Details. One of the things that I love most about blogging is that it allows me to feature & celebrate the little details that make life so worthwhile, and this will be a space where I can share those details with you.
I walked past this doorway on Commonwealth Avenue, and was struck by the intricate design and gold  plating. I just love the vintage feel. Wouldn't this gate be such a lovely addition to an entranceway?

Happy Monday! I do hope you all had a wonderful weekend. This week, I'll be launching a few new series of posts. Monday will be dedicated to celebrating the things I've been loving lately -- because who doesn't need a little extra love on a Monday!

Lately, I've been loving how peaceful the beach becomes once the temperature drops. I love going for walks on the beach, and now that colder weather is settling in I feel as though I have the beach to myself. There's nothing more relaxing than staring out at the water on a windy fall day.

TAKE A NUMBER.

Friday, November 11, 2011

Lately, I can't seem to stop noticing the way street numbers are displayed around the city. I just love how variations of font, size, and color can add such personality to an entrance way.

JUST REMEMBER.

SIGN LANGUAGE.

Wednesday, November 2, 2011

Lately, I can't seem to stop noticing old signs around the city. I'm fascinated with typography & graphic design, and these signs bring some great vintage style to the everyday. My favorites are the old painted advertisements on brick buildings that are wearing away, like a fading memory. Where do you find inspiration?
