One of my favorite parts about
living in Boston is getting to explore the different neighborhoods of the city. My sister lives near the
Brattle Book Shop over by Downtown Crossing -- an area I don't get over to very often. Although I've lived in Boston for almost four years now, it's only recently that I've discovered this [ relatively ] hidden gem. The book shop, which was founded in 1825 [ ! ], is one of the oldest antiquarian bookstores in the United States. Right next to the shop is an otherwise unassuming parking lot that happens to be beautifully decorated with literary-inspired murals. [ As you may recall, I have a minor
obsession with street art, so you can imagine how much I love this! ]
I've yet to go to the shop while it was open, but the exterior was so lively I couldn't help but take a few pictures. Apparently, as well as having an extensive collection antique and rare books, the Brattle Book Shop also has an amazing selection of books priced under $5.
Loving books as much as I do, I can't wait to go back and spend some time exploring their shelves.
