AN AFTERNOON ON BRIGHTON PIER.

Thursday, August 23, 2012

When I was in England this June, I spent a day in Brighton with my sister, brother, and his lovely wife. I haven't been to Brighton for years and years -- probably not since I still lived in England. I'll be sharing some more pictures from our day soon, but first up: an afternoon on Brighton Pier.

We stopped in a few of the candy shops along the pier. Have you ever had rock candy? I absolutely love it. I always remember getting rock candy and sugar mice when we would visit my Nana when I was younger and it always brings me right back.

The bright colors & lights are wonderfully over the top, don't you think?

There were so many interesting details that caught my eye on the pier -- don't you just love that lion?

After we left the pier, we took a little walk on the pebbly beach and took a look at the beautiful old carousel that sits nearby.

The weather was strange that day; it was misty and overcast, but enough sunlight was shining through to impart a calm and lovely beauty. The remains of the West Pier are striking -- and absolutely haunting.

I hope you enjoyed Brighton as much as I did!
