LEFT RIGHT

This weekend I'll be spending a few days in Chicago with my boyfriend before we finish our road trip to Oklahoma later this week. [ You can be sure I'll be Instagramming the whole way! ] I'll be spending June in the U.K. visiting family and I just found out that I'll be able to spend a few days in Paris with my sister. I first went to Paris in high school, and have been dreaming of it ever since. These photos by the amazing Jamie Beck and FamHove have me beyond excited.

This style series is so gorgeous. And that behind the scenes video...wow!

A beautiful round up inspired by simple elegance.

A wonderful tour around Brooklyn

This illustrated blog is beyond gorgeous.

what     //  Shades of fuchsia, feather grey, and cream

where  //   The corner of Mass Ave and Commonwealth

why     //    The buildings along Commonwealth Avenue seem to have the most beautiful window boxes. I just loved how the bright fuchsia of these flowers stood out against the faded grey-brown of the building.

AN AFTERNOON IN BURLINGTON.

A few weeks ago, my boyfriend and I went to Burlington, VT to visit some of his family. I've been to Vermont in the winter before, but never to Burlington and never when the weather was warm.

I wasn't expecting Lake Champlain to be quite so large or so beautiful. I love being near the water, and Burlington is very much a waterfront town.

The architectural details throughout Burlington were beautiful and varied. I loved just walking around and looking at the different types of buildings.

I absolutely love coffee. To the point of obsession. So, as you can imagine, I was thrilled when we stopped at the Bluebird Coffee Stop where I had the most amazing maple latte.

In Burlington, people seem to ride bikes everywhere.

We had a great time looking through little boutiques and trying different restaurants. We ate at Rí Rá twice while we were in Burlington. Their white bean veggie burger was seriously amazing.

The mountains looked unbelievably beautiful across Lake Champlain. It had been raining most of the time that we were there, and the mountains rose delicately out of the mist that hung over the lake.

We stopped and sat on a bench in Battery Park on the end of our last day and spent a while just taking in the scenery and watching people walk by.

ON THE ROAD.

Tomorrow my boyfriend and I will set out on a 1,700 mile road trip to Oklahoma. We'll be stopping in Cleveland and Chicago before heading south to Fort Sill. I've never been to that part of the country before, so I'm excited to see some new places. The day after I get back from Oklahoma I'll be flying out to the U.K. for a month, so I have some serious packing to do.

I've got some posts lined up on the blog, but you can follow along with my trip on Twitter and Instagram.

Have you ever been on a road trip? I'd love to hear!

I agree wholeheartedly.

TROPICAL DREAMS.

Lately, I can't seem to stop posting pictures of the ocean. I love how the water can look so different depending on the weather and time of day; it's an endless source of inspiration to me. The other day I went for a walk with my family to some cliffs overlooking our local beach. It was the first cloudless, sunny day in a while, and the water looked unbelievably clear and bright. The beaches in Massachusetts are undeniably beautiful, but don't usually look quite so exotic. The turquoise water had me dreaming of tropical beaches and far away lands.

Last week my boyfriend and I took a quick trip to Burlington, VT and I couldn't believe how beautiful Lake Champlain was. It was a little rainy while we were there, but we had a few wonderful hours of misty sunshine. The mountains were absolutely stunning!  More pictures to come later this week!

SNAPSHOTS FROM A RAINY DAY.

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

Want to know a secret? I actually really love rainy days. I love to curl up on the couch with a blanket, a good book, a mug of something warm, and listen to the sound of the rain hitting the roof. The world seems to slow down a little when it rains, and everything feels a little out of focus, like an aging watercolor painting. I think the rain can take a little pressure out of daily life; when the sun is shining, I feel as though I have to get out and do, but when it rains I feel I can just be.

Do you like rainy days?
