Happy Monday! Today I'm unusually happy for the weekend to be over because it means I am one day closer to seeing my boyfriend, who has been living in Oklahoma for the past three months. He's only home for the long weekend, but I'm unbelievably excited. :) Today's scene comes from my trip to the U.K. earlier this summer, in the beautiful city of Cardiff. There were so many pretty details I wanted to capture throughout the city, and these were a few of my favorites.

LEFT RIGHT VIA THIS BEAUTIFUL BOARD
Can you believe we are only one week away from the unofficial end of summer? This summer has gone by so quickly. I seem to be really into bright colors at the moment...I'm trying to savor electric pops of color before we settle into the more subdued tones of fall. This weekend is my little sister's last before she leaves for Madrid for the semester, so I'll be helping her get all ready to head out and squeezing in some family bonding time between packing and last minute errands.

Have a fantastic weekend!

I absolutely love this series.

These photos are so dreamy, don't you think?

I can't get enough of these photos of New York from the 80s.

I always find myself coming back to this board and getting lost for a little while.

I love coming to this Tumblr for pretty & colorful vintage inspiration.

My posts this week featured a rather subdued color palette, so I thought something a little brighter was in order :)

Happy Friday!

AN AFTERNOON ON BRIGHTON PIER.

Thursday, August 23, 2012

When I was in England this June, I spent a day in Brighton with my sister, brother, and his lovely wife. I haven't been to Brighton for years and years -- probably not since I still lived in England. I'll be sharing some more pictures from our day soon, but first up: an afternoon on Brighton Pier.

We stopped in a few of the candy shops along the pier. Have you ever had rock candy? I absolutely love it. I always remember getting rock candy and sugar mice when we would visit my Nana when I was younger and it always brings me right back.

The bright colors & lights are wonderfully over the top, don't you think?

There were so many interesting details that caught my eye on the pier -- don't you just love that lion?

After we left the pier, we took a little walk on the pebbly beach and took a look at the beautiful old carousel that sits nearby.

The weather was strange that day; it was misty and overcast, but enough sunlight was shining through to impart a calm and lovely beauty. The remains of the West Pier are striking -- and absolutely haunting.

I hope you enjoyed Brighton as much as I did!

Sometimes I think it can be easy to become overwhelmed by the difficult, the frustrating, the hard. [ I know I'm certainly guilty of this! ] This week, I'm going to make an effort to focus on the beauty and the good.

Happy Monday! As usual, I'm not ready for the weekend to be over. Permanent three-day weekends should be a thing, don't you think? Ah, well. Onwards we go. Yesterday I spent a few hours looking around the SoWa Open Market in Boston's South End. Last summer I feel like I was at SoWa almost every weekend, so I couldn't quite believe that this was the first time I had been this year. I couldn't resist stopping in at Bon Me, my favorite food truck in the city, and browsing around the amazing indoor Vintage Market. Lately, I've been really drawn to a vintage aesthetic [ see here, here & here ! ] so this was especially exciting.

I'd love to know -- how did you spend your weekend?

LEFT RIGHT
This past week absolutely flew by for me, not that I'm complaining! This weekend will be spent catching up on some projects I feel like I haven't had time for lately, being outside as much as the rainy weather will allow, and taking some time to relax. I'd love to hear what you have planned!

I can't stop listening to this cover of I Want You Back.

I dare you not to get lost in this beautiful portfolio

Gorgeous pictures from a lake in Sweden.

Isn't this land art sanctuary just amazing?

ONE TWO THREE
Happy Friday, dear readers! As I mentioned here, I'll be changing some things around on the blog.  This new column will share a collection of things that have been inspiring me each week. I do hope you enjoy it.

BLACK & YELLOW.

Wednesday, August 15, 2012

I've always loved coming across street art. There's always such a thrill in finding something unexpected, don't you think? Although I usually find myself drawn to more muted color pallets, these black, white, and yellow pieces I saw over in England really caught my eye. The bold color and strong lines are just the jolt I need on this Wednesday morning!
